The Truth About LED TV

Posted by Aravin on May 27, 2012 at 3:15 AM

What is the difference between LED TV and LCD TV?

You may think LED TV is using LED to produce images? WRONG!

While LCD TV is using LCD to produce images, this is not the same with LED TV. Actually LED TV is nothing but an LCD TV with LED backlight. The previous LCD TVs were using fluorescent tubes for backlighting. The current LCD TVs are using LED as the backlighting. The confusion is caused by marketing gimmick, instead of calling it LCD TV with LED backlight, they call it as LED TV as if the LED is used to produce the image content!

OK, doesn't mean it is no good :) LCD TV with LED backlighting has lower power consumption, mercury free, balance colour saturation and slimmer.
